NAT

SALUT Partner: Sweden.
The National Resource Centre for Eating Disorders (NÄT) Orebro, Sweden

http://www.nat.se/Forskning/salut.html

NAT is an active partner in the SALUT project within the area of research methodology and evaluation, contribute to assuring quality and coherence of medical information, and act as a bridge head in the dissemination of SALUT results in Sweden.

The National Resource Centre for Eating Disorders (NÄT), launched on January 1, 2002, is a co-operation between Örebro County Council and the County Council of Östergötland (there are 24 county councils in Sweden, each responsible for the health care in a defined geographic region).

The National Institute of Public Health, the National Board of Health and Welfare, and the Swedish Eating Disorders Society also support NÄT. Organisationally, NÄT is a division of the Psychiatric Research Centre, Örebro University Hospital.

NÄT will work primarily in three areas: research, clinical development, and information/ education. The primary aims of NÄT are to co-ordinate and stimulate the development and mediation of knowledge in the areas of prevention and treatment of eating disorders in Sweden. This is to be achieved through building a well-functioning knowledge and information network and a comprehensive website on the Internet aimed at the general public, patients and their relatives, and clinical and research experts.

From start, NÄT has a staff of 3,5 full-time employees: 1 researcher/director, 1 quality developer, 1 information editor/webmaster, and 0,5 administrative assistant. During the first year (2002) the staff will be increased with a part-time computer engineer (for software solutions in the area of clinical development), a research assistant, and a part-time researcher.
